Stopped feeding BBS as of yesterday. They are now getting one large meal of grindal worms daily, a meal or two of 100-200 micron Golden Pearls and Repashy Spawn & Grow to snack on at all times. Today my daphnia gave birth, so I harvested a ton of the babies and the fry had a feast. There are still plenty swimming under the lights, so they’ll be snacking on them tomorrow as well.

Did my first cull today. A few with poorly developed swim bladders, a few with bad toplines and a few tiny babies that insisted on living off of eating air bubbles….culled 12 in total.

I started using Selcon once daily one month ago today. Here’s some comparison shots of the same fish.

Growing these guys out has been a bit frustrating. My BBS stopped hatching well in the 2 weeks that I needed to be feeding them, requiring that I bring in some grindal worms as an emergency measure. They had a rather lean few weeks there. Once I got them on dry foods I quickly realized that the nutritional value of those foods had gone to nothing… despite staying on top of their water changes like a crazy person, I kept seeing topline issues. That’s not normal for this spawn and much to my dismay, I ended up needing to cull almost all of the biggest fish and quite a few of the smaller ones too. I’m left with about 40 of the mid-sized fish, which, at 9 weeks now are on average around 3/4″ BL. The biggest ones, if they hadn’t been culled would have been at least 1″ now. Anyhow.. pics.

Great Spawning log … we should post more of this type of information. Can you explain Selcon? Thanks Stacy
