Hi and Happy Holidays to everyone.

My name is Dave and I’m a new member. I live in the Bradenton-Sarasota area about 40 miles south of Tampa, Florida.
I have been an aquarium hobbyist for several years. I started out as a child and continued in the hobby until I went off to college.
I didn’t get back into the hobby until I retired back in 2001. In all that time, I had never owned a Betta. I decided to get a Betta on a whim last April. I had a vacated Fluval Spec V and as I was visiting a local pet store, I noticed a beautiful platinum half-moon dumbo that had just arrived from Segrest Farms. I couldn’t resist the impulse to take him home.
Fortunately, I already had the Spec V cycled and ready for a new resident and I excitedly introduced my betta into his new home. I named him “Casper” and I must say that he is my special little buddy. He is living a very lush life in his planted tank with catappa leaves. Some of my friends who have bettas, say he is one of the most beautiful and active bettas they have ever seen.
I plan to get more tanks and start a breeding program at some point in the future after I’ve learned more about the process. If anyone has advice to share with me, I would be happy to entertain your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks In Advance for Your Support,
    David Oliver

Welcome David, there is a club very close to you. Hopefully you can send your fish there for competition or attend their meetings. Aurelia and Paul Ogles can give you more information, they are on FaceBook.
