The International Betta Congress (IBC) is
pleased to announce a program honoring middle
and high school science fair participants
who use Betta as a research animal in their
projects. Students who have placed in their
school, regional or state science fair are
eligible. The prize includes an engraved plaque,
a US Saving Bond, and the opportunity to submit
an article describing their research to the IBC
journal Flare. Interested students should
bring a copy of this notice to the attention of
their science teacher. Application must be made
by the teacher and include three (3) copies of
the written research project as well as a letter
on school stationary certifying that the project
in question placed at the school, regional, or
state fair.
In recognition that not all students have
access to science fair competitions, the IBC
will also accept nomination from science
teachers for student projects that have not
competed in fairs. The nomination should detail
why teacher feels that the student's project
would have proven competitive had the student
had the opportunity to compete.
Applications for a given academic year are
due by 1 May. The IBC Research and Grants
Committee will review submissions. Awards will
be announced June 1. Address submissions to:
