So, you've done your homework, bred your fishies, which developed into beautiful bettas ... now what? Why not show them in one of our area Betta shows? It's not rocket science, your fish don't have to be "perfect" and you don't even have to be a member of the IBC to start showing in our New Breeders Program!

Welcome to the IBC
Here at the IBC we keep betta, breed betta, show betta, and most of all, we talk betta to anyone who wants to talk about them.
We look for color, fins, deportment; and we love to argue, which is the most important. Some study the genetics of a betta, some could care less about all of the above and just want one of these people-friendly fish to call a pet.
Wherever you are we would like you to look into our club and see if you might want to be part of it. We have seminars, put on betta shows, have betta auctions and sometimes just talk. Look in the "Chapters" page to see if there is a local chapter near you.
The membership voted in 2009 to further internationalize the IBC by opening up additional board positions to our international members. Which means, this upcoming election, members cannot only vote for General Members-at-Large and General Judging Board positions, but also can nominate and elect members from outside Area 1 to serve on both boards as Area Members-at-Large or Area Judging Board Representatives.
The International Betta Congress is an international organization of Betta fanciers with approximately 700 members. We are opposed to HR 669, the Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Protection Act, and ask you to join us in our opposition.
During the auction at the Aquaria Expo in Winnipeg in April 2010, Chris Biggs ate mealworms as a fundraiser for the IBC. He raised $40 with his efforts. Who says innovation doesn't pay off? lol
The IBC is growing. We are proud to add the Kaisar United Banten Indonesia in Area 6 to our Betta family. For contact details, see the chapters page.
J-Board News
It is the opinion of the Judging Board that the use of descriptive names that do not relate any beneficial genetic information regarding a specific Betta is detrimental to the hobby and might be construed as misleading.
The IBC would like to get a pair of betta into new members hands as soon as possible, free of charge so a new member can try breeding betta. Right now it is available only in the United States.
