Effective
July 1, 1998
The purpose of this program is to encourage
new IBC members to enter the show program
during their first year of membership. This
program is open to anyone who has never placed
1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any regular IBC show class
in an International or Convention Show.
Non-IBC members may also show their fish in
the Novice classes.
This program uses the five divisions A - E,
all of which are fully described in the IBC
Standards Handbook (partially available via the
"Downloads
section"). The classes are as follows:
- N-A1: Dark solid color
non-iridescent Male
- N-A2: Dark solid color
non-iridescent Female
- N-B1: Dark solid color iridescent
Male
- N-B2: Dark solid color iridescent
Female
- N-C1: Light solid color Male
- N-C2: Light solid color Female
- N-D1: Bicolor Male
- N-D2: Bicolor Female
- N-E1: Patterned Male
- N-E2: Patterned Female
Each division consists of a male and a female
class. Single Tails and Double Tails are shown
in the same class. Novices can enter fish
they did not breed or raise as long as they have
the permission of the breeder.
Who can enter as a Novice?
There are two conditions that must be
met for entering as a Novice:
- Never have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in
any regular class in an International or
Convention Show, and
- Never have entered any regular class in
an International/Convention Show after June
30, 1998.
How can a Novice move to the regular show
classes?
Any Novice winning at least three (3) annual
Novice Class Championships in the same show year
shall become permanently ineligible to enter
novice classes beginning with the immediately
following show year, and can only enter regular
classes from then on. A Novice can elect to
enter regular classes in an International/
Convention Show, but permanently loses
eligibility to enter as a Novice, including the
International/Convention Show in which he first
regular class entry is made.
Note:
IBC
membership is required to show in the
regular classes.
How are the novice classes judged?
Judging will follow current IBC rules and
standards. Judging can be conducted by
Apprentice Judges under the supervision of an
IBC Certified Judge, or by Certified Judges. As
in all shows, the judges’ decisions are final.
Judges may at their own discretion notify
Novices whose entries won 1st place in a novice
class as to how such entry might have done in a
regular class.
What about the entry fees?
Entry fees are at the discretion of the Host
Club.
Are there awards for Novice winners?
Yes. Certificates will be awarded at each
show for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each novice
class, and Novice Best of Show Male and Female.
There are no awards for Reserve Best of Show.
The end-of-year awards will be certificates for
the Novice Class Championships. There is no
Novice Grand Champion award. Novice points count
only for novice awards. Novice Class entries do
not compete with regular class entries and are
not eligible for any regular class
awards/points, including Best of Show (BOS) and
Reserve Best of Show (RBOS).
Where can I get the Novice Entry Form?
The Novice Entry Form is available for download
in our "Downloads
section" in Word (.doc) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
format. |
