JUDGING BOARD RULING
October 10, 2007

Effective immediately the following procedures for all IBC shows will be implemented:

Bagging of all walk-in entries at the end of a show must be physically verified for accuracy by the show chair or designated show committee members. The process will be the same as used for mail-in entries.

Specifically, before bagging fish, show committee members will verify that the consecutive numbers on each container gathered correctly matches the entry form (or continuous log) for the respective entrant.  Entrants will not bag their entries until they have been verified with the designated show committee member.

When bagging is complete, show committee members will verify the total number of fish is correct for the respective entrant box.

Host clubs will have the right to inspect all boxes carried out of the showroom.

JUDGING BOARD OPINION
JULY 1, 2007

It is the opinion of the Judging Board that the use of descriptive names that do not relate any beneficial genetic information regarding a specific Betta is detrimental to the hobby and might be construed as misleading.

Therefore, we strongly urge IBC Members to use genetic terminology related to the specific betta strain when selling or trading stock. Terms such as "dark blue iridescent" or "light bodied bicolor" are favored over some of the more popular trade names given.

It is also the opinion of the Judging Board that IBC Members should refrain from using the terminology "half moon geno." This may relay to a person that the fish will guarantee half moon. As it has not been proven a half moon gene exists and it is more a special traits quality which requires many different conditions in order to produce, the Judging Board strongly encourages its IBC members refrain from using such terminology when selling or trading stock.
