New
to Downloading files?
First, if you don't already have one, you should
make a folder on your computer to store all of
the downloads of present and future IBC
documents. A suggestion would be to create a
folder within your "documents folder" or "my
documents folder", called "IBC Docs". That way
you always put your downloads in the same place
and know where to look later when you go to use
them. When you see a file you want to download,
right click on "Save target as..." and always
put the file in the same "IBC Docs" folder.
Files that end in .doc ( ) are documents that are
created in Microsoft Word and can be downloaded
and printed on your computer in Microsoft Word.
If you don't have Word but have another word
processing program, download it anyway and try
to open it in your program. Some programs will
convert the word document to your program..
Files that end in .xls ( ) are documents that are
created in the Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet
program and can be downloaded and printed on
your computer or which is better, can be
downloaded and filled out on your computer to be
printed or e mailed to the show registrars. If
you don't have Excel but have QuattroPro or the
new free Open Office, you can download it and
open those programs. There may be other
spreadsheet programs that will convert an excel
file. Try it. Files that end in .ppt ( )
are visual presentations created in Microsoft
PowerPoint that can be downloaded, viewed and
printed on a user's machine. For those without
this program, Microsoft offers a free
PowerPoint Viewer.
Files that end in .pdf ( ) are Adobe Acrobat files
and can be opened on most computers in Acrobat
reader software which is included FREE on most
newer computers. If it won't open on your
computer you can go to
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
and download the latest version of the Reader
software. It's FREE! Beware, it takes a while to
load, but it's worth having on your computer
because many long documents and catalogs are in
Adobe which gives you an exact copy of any
document on your screen as it would be in
printed form and you can print the whole
document or just portions of it.
Files that end in .jpg or .gif are images or
pictures and can be downloaded the same way.
